Overview

The Plant Engineer acts as the main technical resource for the plant operations, applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems, and enable safe and environmentally acceptable production of quality products. The role works in partnership with Maintenance, supporting functions and internal raw material suppliers. The role will also include the responsibility for identifying and implementing improvements for the LV Plant.

Responsibilities
  • Understands and applies all Environmental, Health & Safety personal and operational requirements in a plant producing for regulated markets: GMP, FSSC
  • Understands Methocel LV process technology, process equipment and control technology.
  • Understands and applies skills and knowledge to maximize plant asset utilization and produce quality products efficiently.
  • Works with Technical Advisor and plant personnel to optimize operations, meet Business and plant goals (EH&S, production, cost, quality).
  • Ensures that appropriate root cause analysis is done and corrective actions are implemented to address unplanned events as defined by business/department trigger criteria.
  • Participates in advanced troubleshooting and coaches others to learn these skills.
  • Process Control System Co-Ownership - works with operations personnel and Process Control Technologist to maintain and improve process control.
  • Participates in technical advising and training of plant personnel.
  • Works with operations staff to maintain up-to-date operating procedures and process descriptions, and to ensure procedures are utilized for required jobs.
  • Works with budget team to track and control costs.
  • Proficiency at using standard global tools for maintenance, reliability, and global work processes.
  • As required communicate technical information and issues to plant personnel, Technology or Expertise centers.
  • Participates in plant empowered teams, taking facilitative and leadership roles, as appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Chemical Engineering or comparable
  • Minimum of 8 years of experiences
  • Strong EH&S focus and process safety expertise
  • Excellent interpersonal & problem solving skills coupled with a strong technical background.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and effectively sell ideas to all levels.
  • "Hands on" experience
  • Fluency in German and English
