Medical Scientific Liaison (m / f / d) Rare Diseases Neurology – regions: Hessen, Saarland, Rheinland-Pfalz, NRW-Süd.

About the role

The MSL role is a field-based scientific expert within the Rare Diseases Neurology team focusing on rare neurological conditions. You will be the leading local scientific expert for UCB, responsible for scientific discussions, presentations, responses to unsolicited questions and involvement in feasibility processes around new clinical studies. You will build local medical plans, conduct advisory boards and arrange scientific symposiums.

Who you’ll work with

As the MSL Rare Diseases Neurology you are the scientific discussion partner that interacts with national and international thought leaders (Key Opinion Leaders – KOLs) and other healthcare professionals (HCPs). You work externally and internally, closely with an integrated team across functions. You report to the Field Medical Lead Neurology.

What you’ll do
  • Agile and proactive identification and management of key scientific and medical influencers based on local ecosystem dynamics.
  • Exploration and identification of new sources of patient value (innovative solutions and services) by placing the holistic disease burden of people suffering from rare neurological diseases high on health care’s agenda.
  • Partner with key clinical KOLs, payers, patient organizations and patients to advance medical initiatives in defined clinical practice areas to drive optimal patient care.
  • Share insights, innovation opportunities and patient needs internally to the patient-value units.
  • Drive development of real‑world evidence in the local ecosystem and leverage the value of UCB solutions for patients to medical and payer communities.
Qualifications and experience
  • MSc in Life Sciences, Neuroscience or a related field; PhD in neurology, neurobiology or rare diseases is a strong plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in German and English (written and spoken).
  • Work experience as MSL is a big plus.
  • Launch experience and experience in neurology and rare diseases are a huge advantage.
  • Proven track‑record having worked with biologics.
  • Business acumen and a good understanding of the healthcare ecosystem.
  • Great project management skills.
