Job description

The Linux System Administrator will be part of our dedicated service team providing essential IT support. Our team specializes in reliable support and services in networking, security, storage and Linux‑based infrastructure.

Working with colleagues, the Linux System Administrator will have the opportunity to contribute to various tasks according to their background and skill level. This includes developing and configuring networks, implementing firewall and security solutions, working with scale‑out storage and providing support to virtualized environments (VMWare, Proxmox, Docker). The tasks also include archiving and backup, identity management (IdM) and automated configuration and update management (Ansible).

In view of the diverse skills within our team, applicants with different IT backgrounds in system and network administration are very welcome. We do not expect applicants to already have experience with all the technologies listed or to take responsibility for all technologies upon hire.

As our clientele is multinational, we offer support in German and English.

Your tasks

• Support, implement and maintain general Linux‑based infrastructure services as part of a team
• Support, implement and maintain monitoring and security solutions such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems
• Support, implement and maintain Linux‑based scale‑out storage and backup systems
• Support, implement and maintain virtualization services such as VMWare, Proxmox and Docker
• Make suggestions for improvements to processes and procedures
• Work closely with scientists to develop systems and structures that meet their research needs

Your profile

• A university degree or equivalent in an IT‑related or scientific field – or a good explanation of why your career path provides equivalent skills.
• At least 3 years’ experience in Linux system administration
• Basic Linux scripting knowledge
• Knowledge and experience in network and IT security
• Must live in Germany or be willing to relocate to Germany. Open‑mindness and curiosity about other cultures is an advantage in our international environment.
• Fluency in German and English with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team
