Overview

Airbus in Taufkirchen is looking for a Legal Counsel Competition Law (d/m/w) to deal with all Competition law related topics for Airbus (one of the worlds leading suppliers of commercial aircraft) Airbus Helicopters (a major industry player in the manufacturing of Helicopters) and Airbus Defence & Space (key manufacturer of satellites drones military aircraft launch vehicles and various other Defence & communications products).

This is a unique opportunity to join a team of experts advising on Competition law related matters impacting Airbus and all its divisions all around the world. Under the supervision of the Head of Competition law of Airbus located in Toulouse France you will be dealing with Competition law related questions that can arise within the group while being based in Taufkirchen Germany.

Responsibilities

• Contracts and Market behaviours: You will assist the business and legal communities in the analysis of potential Competition law issues arising in the course of day-to-day business (in particular cooperation agreements, teaming agreements with third parties in the context of tender offers, relationships with the industrial supply chain, distribution networks, research and development cooperation, etc.).

• Merger & Acquisition: You will assist M&A and Strategy departments group-wide (Airbus Commercial Aircraft, Airbus Helicopters and Airbus Defence and Space) in the context of all contemplated M&A opportunities (from feasibility study to negotiation phase, merger control filing procedures until clearance decisions are obtained and post-merger integration).

• Third party investigations & sector inquiries: You will monitor third parties M&A transactions notified before competition authorities, build a group-wide position by collecting inputs from internal stakeholders, liaise with competition authorities where required, and respond to questionnaires in relation to investigations and sector inquiries from various competition authorities after collecting relevant data internally and building a group-wide position.

• State Aid & Foreign Subsidies: You will assess financing schemes for new programs from a State aid standpoint (with support from Legal & Compliance, including Public Affairs) and, when required, liaising with relevant State stakeholders; and if Airbus M&A transactions and participation in public tenders fall under the EU Foreign Subsidy Regulation, manage the filing procedure until clearance decisions are obtained.

• Investigations/Pre-litigation/Litigation: You will manage Competition law related investigations, pre-litigation and litigation impacting an entity of the group.

• Training/Compliance Programme: You will provide Competition law training for business employees (e.g. procurement, sales) and the Legal & Compliance community. You will also participate in the drafting of all Competition law-related documentation (e.g. guidelines, digital tools).

Qualifications and skills

• You have a Competition law academic background (master degree or equivalent in EU competition law; a degree in German/French competition law would also be an asset).

• You have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in competition law (including internships) with initial experiences as a lawyer and/or in-house legal counsel in a competition law team.

• You have the ability to manage several complex legal and internal procedures involving multiple internal departments and third party stakeholders such as competition authorities, governments, industrial partners and law firms.

• You can transform general and detailed market information into a legally coherent and concise case; you demonstrate strategic insight and value-added orientation.

• You have excellent communication and writing skills and the ability to build excellent internal relationships.

• You are open-minded, autonomous, responsive and creative; you are cooperative and a team player.

• You are fluent in German and English; business level in French and/or Spanish would be an asset.
