Position overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Freelance Market Specialist for the French market to support our Localization and Product Marketing teams at KAYAK. This unique role combines the strategic elements of product marketing with the linguistic expertise required for high‑quality localization. The ideal candidate will improve our messaging, positioning, and in‑product communications while ensuring the highest standards of linguistic quality and cultural relevance in our localized content.

In this role, you will:

Product Marketing Support:

• Develop and refine concise, user‑friendly messaging for KAYAK’s features and unique selling propositions (USPs).
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to create a unified product positioning and messaging framework.
• Audit and update existing product messaging to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with KAYAK’s brand strategy.
• Conduct market research and competitor analysis.

Localization Quality Assurance:

• Review, proofread, and resolve linguistic issues in translations to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to guidelines.
• Ensure all translations meet the brand’s quality standards and are culturally appropriate for the target audience.
• Provide feedback to translators and collaborate in maintaining language‑specific style guides and glossaries.
• Evaluate the quality of Machine Translation (MT) or AI‑generated content, and fully localize the content to improve the user engagement.

Please apply if you have:

• Minimum 5 year experience in product marketing, product copywriting, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a translator, reviewer, or similar role
• Native‑level proficiency in French and excellent command of English.
• Strong writing, communication, and proofreading skills with an attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of cultural nuances and ability to adapt content accordingly.
• Familiarity with CAT tools is a plus.
• Understanding of the challenges and considerations when working with MT or AI‑generated content.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
• Ideally based in the local market to stay on top of the local marketing trends.
