About the Job

We're looking for a Founding Engineer (m/f/x) to join our latest investment to drive the development of their AI-powered SaaS products and lead their Tech Team. As a Founding Engineer, you'll be responsible for building and maintaining their core technical platform from ideation to deployment and quality assurance in a holistic way while fostering a high performance culture across Data and Engineering.

Join our portfolio company: a German-based startup that’s harnessing AI technologies to improve working capital and create circular supply chains for industrial manufacturing companies.

In this role, you’ll:

• Lead the ideation, conceptualization and definition of architecture and technologies in alignment with the business strategy
• Design and build full-stack technologies while continuously pushing the AI capabilities of our portfolio company’s product
• Write code fast and scrap it even faster, knowing when to transition to building for scale and quality
• Lead customer conversations and translate insights into product features and tech strategy
• Work with the CEO and Head of Product to ensure the development and execution of the Product strategy, in alignment with the broader business strategy
• Take ultimate responsibility for the day-to-day functioning of the platform, and demo system as well as coordinating safe deployments and maintenance tasks

Typical tasks

• Evaluate critical engineering issues and take final decisions with respect the problem-solving within this area
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure the platform meets the highest quality, information and cyber security requirements
• Define and controlmilestones, priorities and deadlines according to the product and tech roadmap
• Setup and maintain processes to guarantee structure, quality and speed / efficiency: e.g. Deployment, Scrum, Documentation

Your Profile

• 5+ years experience as Engineering Manager / Lead Engineer or technical leadership with a background in back-end/full-stack engineering (B2B SaaS experience is highly desired)
• Capacity to collaborate with external teams with respect to third-party integrations via API or others (e.g. knowledge of main ERPs);
• Experience with Postgres, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, Python, Terraform Neo4j, Langchain and RAG, AWS
• Ability to manage complex, data-driven projects, fostering collaboration across Tech and Business departments
• Entrepreneurial drive with a“fail fast” and learn faster mentality
• Experience leading, growing and developing high performing tech teams
• Transparent, efficient and proactive communication about challenges, possible pitfalls and time constraints as well as ideas for innovative solutions
• High sense of ownership - you're eager to take on everything from conception to deployment
• Enjoy talking to customers and iterating based on feedback
• Strong communications in English. German is advantageous
• Experience as a Tech Entrepreneur or Technical Co-founder will be highly regarded
• Experience in manufacturing or supply chain industries is a plus

Please note that we are looking for support in the Mannheim or Berlinoffice of our portfolio company. Eligibility to work within the EU is required as well.
