Qualifikationen

• Abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium der Betriebswirtschaft, des Wirtschaftsingenieurwesens oder vergleichbar mit Schwerpunkt Controlling.
• Mehrjährige relevante Berufserfahrung im Controlling, idealerweise in einer leitenden Position.
• Sehr gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift.

Die WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management zählt zu den führenden Wirtschaftshochschulen im deutschsprachigen Raum.

Wir suchen zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt die verantwortliche Leitung (w / m / d) für den Bereich Finanzen und Controlling.

Mit direkter Berichtslinie an die Kanzlerin der Hochschule übernehmen Sie die fachliche und disziplinarische Führung der Teams Controlling und Finanzbuchhaltung mit rund 10 Mitarbeitenden. Mit der Verantwortung für den Finanzbereich leisten Sie einen entscheidenden Beitrag zur strategischen Weiterentwicklung der Hochschule. Mit Ihrem Knowhow schaffen Sie Transparenz für fundierte Entscheidungen der Hochschulleitung. Zusammen mit dem Führungsteam der Kanzlerin in den Bereichen Administration, Studiengänge & Executive Education, Transformation & Digitalisierung, Marketing, Business Engagement, Infrastruktur, HR und IT sind Sie Teil des administrativen Rückgrats der Hochschule.

Ihre Aufgaben

• Verantwortung für die Erstellung von Monats-, Quartals- und Jahresabschlüssen sowie die interne Steuerung finanzieller und nichtfinanzieller KPIs
• Fachliche Führung und Entwicklung der Teams Controlling und Finanzbuchhaltung: Integration, Entwicklung und Motivation der Mitarbeitenden
• Weiterentwicklung von Berichts- und Steuerungsprozessen sowie Kennzahlensystemen
• Einführung und Optimierung digitaler Lösungen im Controlling und in der Finanzbuchhaltung – inklusive Aufbau eines Data-Warehouse-Systems
• Zusammenarbeit mit der Hochschulleitung, der Stiftung WHU und weiterer interner Stakeholder bei strategischen und financieelwirtschaftlichen Fragestellungen
• Business Partner / Sparringspartner für die Lehrstuhl- und Studiengangsverantwortlichen

Ihr Profil

• Abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium der Betriebswirtschaft, des Wirtschaftsingenieurwesens oder vergleichbar – idealerweise mit Schwerpunkt Controlling oder Rechnungswesen
• Mehrjährige relevante Berufserfahrung im Controlling, idealerweise in einer leitenden Position
• Erfahrung und Faible für eine effiziente Gestaltung der Systemlandschaft im Finanzbereich (Buchhaltung und Controlling) sowie der Digitalisierung von Finanzprozessen
• Ausgeprägte analytische Fähigkeiten und strategisches Denkvermögen
• Nachgewiesene Führungsstärke, Teamorientierung und Kommunikationsgeschick
• Hands-on-Mentalität mit einem hohen Maß an Eigeninitiative, Innovationsfreude und Umsetzungsstärke
• Sehr gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift

WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management is one of the leading business schools in the German-speaking world.

We are looking to fill the position of Director of Finance and Controlling (f / m / d) at the earliest possible date.

Reporting directly to the Head of Administration, you will take on overall responsibility for the Controlling and Financial Accounting teams with approximately 10 staff members. In this key role, you will significantly contribute to WHU’s strategic development. Your financial expertise will ensure transparency and provide a sound basis for decision-making at the executive level. Together with the Head of Administration’s leadership team (comprising the areas of Program & Executive Education Administration, Transformation & Digitalization, Marketing, Business Engagement, Infrastructure, HR and IT), you will be part of the administrative backbone of WHU.

Your mission

• Full responsibility for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements as well as internal management of financial and non-financial KPIs
• Professional and disciplinary leadership of the Controlling and Financial Accounting teams : integration, development, and motivation of staff
• Further development of reporting, controlling processes, and performance metrics
• Implementation and optimization of digital solutions in controlling and accounting – including the development of a data warehouse system
• Strategic and financial collaboration with WHU's Executive Board, the WHU Foundation, and other internal stakeholders
• Business and sparring partner for chairs and academic program leaders

Your profile

• University degree in business administration, industrial engineering, or similar – ideally with a focus on controlling or accounting
• Several years of relevant professional experience in controlling, preferably in a leadership position
• Strong interest and experience in shaping efficient financial systems and driving digitalization in accounting and controlling
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
• Proven leadership capabilities, team orientation, and excellent communication skills
• Hands-on mentality with a high level of initiative, innovation, and execution strength
• Excellent written and spoken German and English skills
