SWARM Biotactics GmbH is a well-funded deeptech startup based in Kassel, Germany. We're developing a new kind of robotics — living, intelligent systems based on insects. Each insect carries a custom-designed backpack that enables wireless control, sensing, and secure communication. These swarms combine the agility of biology with AI, sensors, and swarm coordination — unlocking capabilities where conventional machines fail.

Your tasks

As a Cloud / Platform Engineer at SWARM Biotactics, your work will form the backbone of our technical operations. You will take ownership of our infrastructure systems and ensure they are reliable, scalable, and secure.

• Build and operate cloud & edge infrastructure to support our development and deployment pipelines across AWS and edge devices.
• Develop and maintain our internal developer platform, enabling teams to efficiently build, test, and deploy software.
• Design and implement monitoring, observability, and alerting systems for our biorobotic fleets and services.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Collaborate with software and robotics teams to support CI/CD pipelines and deployment to both cloud and physical systems (e.g. IoT/edge devices).
• Ensure security, compliance, and scalability are baked into our infrastructure by design.

Your profile

• You have strong hands-on experience (3+ years) building and scaling cloud infrastructure (especially on AWS).
• You're fluent in DevOps best practices and know how to build secure, maintainable, and observable systems.
• You’ve worked with or are excited by edge computing, IoT, and hardware/software interfaces.
• You enjoy empowering other engineers through great tooling, documentation, and automation.
• You thrive in fast-moving environments where your work directly shapes the product and team.
• You have a degree in computer science or equivalent real-world experience.
