Operating from multiple global locations, they serve high-tech industries including packaging, sun protection, medical technology, automotive, and aerospace. As part of a succession plan due to retirement, our client is seeking a Project Leader (m/f/d) to join their team in Freiburg. This is a key role within the Product Development & Technical Service department, offering the opportunity to lead exciting development projects and contribute to cutting-edge material solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead product development and optimization projects on a laboratory scale.
• Operate coating, laminating, and metallizing processes for web-like substrates.
• Manage development projects from concept to production scale.
• Formulate new coating and adhesive systems and create production-ready recipes.
• Plan, execute, and evaluate machine trials to scale up laboratory developments.
• Identify and test alternative raw materials for existing products.
• Develop measurement protocols and support equipment procurement.
• Maintain accurate documentation of hazardous substances and coating materials.
• Manage laboratory inventory and ordering processes.
• Represent the company at supplier visits, customer meetings, and industry trade fairs.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified coatings lab technician or similar (e.g., CTA, chemical laboratory technician).
• Experience with water-based and solvent-based coatings and adhesives.
• Ideally, prior experience in the coatings or surface finishing industry.
• Strong color vision and attention to detail.
• Passion for innovation and hands-on project work.
• Structured working style with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent team collaboration and communication skills.
• Fluent in German (spoken and written); good English proficiency.
