The Legal Studies Program at Elizabethtown College invites applicants for a full‑timeAssistant Professor of Teaching(non‑tenure track) andProgram Director in Legal Studies.The successful candidate will also serve as the college’s pre‑law advisor.
This is a full‑time, 9‑month faculty position to begin January 5, 2026 with regular annual renewal, pending satisfactory performance. The Legal Studies program is housed within the School of Public Service, which is grounded in the mission of Elizabethtown College: Educate for Service.
The College is looking to hire innovative faculty with a commitment to student mentoring and relationship‑centered learning. The School of Public Service faculty are committed to preparing students for lifelong learning, service, and professional outcomes. Approximately 30% of Elizabethtown College students are first‑generation college students.

Specific job responsibilities include teaching within the curriculum, participating in effective marketing and recruitment of undergraduate students to the program, advising and mentoring students, advising pre‑law students for application to law school, supervising student research projects, providing service to the program, and making meaningful contributions to college‑wide councils/committees.
We are looking for a Legal Studies generalist with the ability to cover a range of courses within the Legal Studies program, including Constitutional Law (2 courses: Institutions and Civil Rights & Liberties), Legal Writing, Logic and Legal Reasoning/LSAT Prep. Additional areas of interest are open, but coverage of some of the following courses is a plus: American Government, Intro to Law, Health Policy and Law, Senior Seminar. Candidates who can also contribute additional courses to the political science program and/or criminal justice program will be given additional preference.
Successful candidates will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to collaboration. The legal studies program is interdisciplinary and faculty in this position will work closely with political science, criminal justice and other disciplines to develop initiatives and create opportunities for students. We encourage applications from candidates with the ability to contribute to the diversity of our department and institution, whether through personal experience, teaching, scholarship, or service.
Candidates must have an advanced degree (JD or Ph.D.) in law, legal studies, or related field.
Preference will be given to candidates with real‑world experience in the legal studies field and those with potential to build community partnerships and internship opportunities for students interested in the study of law. Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level is required. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to student success and excellence while working within an interdisciplinary learning team approach.
