Jobbeschreibung
Overview

At AURA Health Technologies GmbH, we develop AI-powered ultrasound software that makes breast cancer surgery safer, more precise, and more efficient. Our technology brings cutting-edge image processing and artificial intelligence directly into the operating room—with the goal of improving the lives of over 500,000 patients every year.

From our headquarters in Berlin, an interdisciplinary team of medical professionals, engineers, and entrepreneurs is working to transform surgical standards worldwide. In collaboration with leading clinics and research institutions, we are clinically validating our solution and preparing for international scale-up—starting in the USA and Europe.

AURA stands for clarity. For health. And for the fusion of medical excellence with technological intelligence.

Why We’re Looking for You

As an AI Engineer at AURA, you won’t just be building models—you’ll be shaping the future of surgical technology. You’ll work at the heart of one of Europe’s most exciting MedTech startups, embedded in our R&D team and collaborating closely with leadership.

This role is not about assisting—it’s about building. You’ll bring clarity to complex challenges, think strategically, design robust systems, and implement solutions. You’ll experience the full spectrum of product and company development: from clinical validation and external partnerships to product strategy, team structure, and go-to-market planning.

This position is ideal for someone who envisions a long-term path toward technical leadership or even founding their own venture—and is ready to lay the operational and strategic groundwork now.

Responsibilities
  • Research and develop ML algorithms for ultrasound image and signal analysis
  • Design and optimize scalable ML pipelines (e.g., segmentation, classification)
  • Conduct experiments and performance evaluations using medical datasets
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate models into production systems
  • Apply MLOps practices for model tracking, deployment, and monitoring
  • Contribute to software architecture and requirements engineering
  • Ensure compliance with medical device regulations and coding standards
  • Participate in cross-functional R&D discussions and user testing sessions
  • Support clinical validation efforts in collaboration with medical experts
  • Coordinate with external research and industry partners on joint development initiatives
Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in ML development, preferably in medical imaging
  • Strong foundation in deep learning, signal processing, and computer vision
  • Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, Git
  • Experience with MLOps tools (e.g., MLflow, neptune ai), GCP
  • Familiarity with medical imaging formats (e.g., DICOM) and standards
  • Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Benefits
  • Unlimited contract with competitive fixed salary
  • Flexible hours and hybrid work model (minimum 20% in-office)
  • Structured onboarding and Scrum-based project management
  • Flat hierarchies and fast decision-making
  • Respectful and inclusive work culture
  • Opportunity to improve breast cancer care
Success Measures

Within 3 Months:

  • You got onboarded into the R&D team and familiarized with codebase and ML infrastructure
  • You have familiarized yourself with the data structure and preprocessing pipeline
  • You have implemented the first model of real-time feedback mechanisms for user guidance during ultrasound acquisition

Within 6 Months:

  • You delivered a working ML prototype that provides real-time feedback to users on scan behavior and image quality
  • You contributed to the robustness of ML models through domain adaptation and semi-supervised learning using synthetic RF data
  • You have collaborated with clinical partners to validate the system in real-world clinical environments and collect feedback for refinement
