Every day, you'll have new and exciting opportunities to make life brighter for our Clients - who are at the heart of everything we do. Discover how you can make a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities around the world.

Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Best Practice Consultant to join our Group Wealth Operations team (GRS). If you are passionate about project management, excited to help solve complex business problems and motivated to continually improve, we want to hear from you!

As a Best Practice Consultant, you’ll partner with leaders and other teams across the company on projects and continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll be responsible for ensuring we deliver exceptional service to our Clients through our processes and best practices. You are critical to the success of our Group Wealth Operations team, which includes our Savings/Accumulation and Payout Annuities teams.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need strong business analysis skills and a results‑oriented mindset. You’re a leader who takes charge in a fast‑paced environment, even when you don’t have all the answers. You have a solid understanding of project management activities. You are a collaborative team‑player who maintains positive relationships with your business partners.

What will you do
  • Represent Group Wealth Operations on projects and change initiatives that impact business operations. This includes, for example, large‑scale process improvements, Digital Enterprise initiatives, regulatory changes and product changes with a primary focus on base contract document impacts. You’ll support any training and change management activities required to ensure successful project and initiative implementations.

  • Manage a portfolio of continuous improvement (CI) initiatives and process redesign activities. Your portfolio will include projects of varying complexity across Group Wealth Operations with a primary focus on CIs for base contract documents.

  • Work with business and program leaders to prioritize initiatives, develop new processes and refine best practice support needs. You’ll focus on improving quality, optimizing productivity and performance and generating capacity to grow the business.

  • Manage plan sponsor and stakeholder relations to ensure project and initiative delivery expectations are specified and met.

  • Bridge the gap between Operations and IT. You’ll relay and interpret business requirements and ensure those requirements are complete. This includes considering all end‑to‑end processes and communicating with all stakeholders.

  • Be a change agent. You’ll train business teams on system changes, process improvements and project management tools. You’ll also lead change management activities.

  • Define, build and execute the creation and maintenance of knowledge management content.

  • Support our Savings/Accumulation and Payout Annuity tools and act as product owner for micro‑automation tools. You’ll ensure the processes tied to those tools are effective. You’ll also be responsible for proper governance and risk management of the tools.

  • Lead annual and repetitive operational activities. This includes, for example, activities related to annual RRSP deadlines, year‑end readiness activities, external and internal audit support.

Preferred skills
  • Business analysis skills. This includes understanding and assessing business needs, analyzing change management needs, capturing project requirements and communicating across relevant groups.

  • Proven problem‑solving skills, with an ability to resolve issues and Client concerns quickly and effectively.

  • Strong leadership skills, with an ability to manage change in an ambiguous environment.

  • Ability to independently manage and prioritize initiatives with varying complexities.

  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across teams. This includes being comfortable communicating with all levels of leadership.

  • Ability to analyze data and use results to identify improvement opportunities.

  • Ability to influence the prioritization of continuous improvement ideas.

  • Excellent communication skills. This includes collaboration skills, being comfortable asking questions and speaking up, active listening skills and writing.

  • Excellent project management, organization, planning and time management skills.

  • Ability to prioritize work.

  • Strong attention to detail and quality.

  • Experience using various presentation and collaboration tools (Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Excel and Word).

  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French‑speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

Qualifications
  • Lean Six Sigma, PMP or other industry accreditation

  • Previous experience as a business analyst or project management

  • Solid understanding of Sun Life and Group Wealth Operations, including systems and products

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, or equivalent university degree or college diploma

What’s in it for you?
  • We’re proud to be recognized as a company with a 2025 Most Trusted Executive team by Great Place to Work® Canada

  • Access to short‑term assignments or ‘Gigs’ across the organization, to help you develop new skills and connections.

  • A collaborative and interactive team environment

  • Charitable giving through our You Give, We Give program lets you give back to your community – and in many cases, we’ll match your contributions.

  • Care Days available for self‑care or care of others (i.e., family or others you may support) and Sick Days to support your well‑being.
