Reports To: Manager, Underwriting

Department: Individual Underwriting

Term: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangements: This role is primarily remote, with potential in-person requirements at our Waterloo, ON office or other locations within the Waterloo Region as needed. Travel may be required for sales roles.

Equitable is growing! We are seeking Underwriters to join our Individual Insurance team. The Intermediate Underwriter plays a key role in risk assessment for life and critical illness products. • Apply comprehensive underwriting expertise across medical, financial, and non-medical risk factors.
• Maintain high-quality work standards.
• Manage daily workload independently to meet service standards.
• Provide excellent client service.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and reinsurance requirements regarding privacy and risk classification.
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in underwriting processes.

• Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
• Strong technical knowledge in underwriting.
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective negotiation skills with reinsurance partners.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
