Junior Accountant, Fogo Island
Fogo Island Cooperative Society Limited is seeking a highly motivated and energetic candidate for a full-time permanent position of Junior Accountant. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the ideal candidate will complete our accounting team. This is a full-time position located on Fogo Island.

The Fogo Island Co-op
The Fogo Island Cooperative Society Limited is a community-based cooperative that was established in 1967 to ensure the people of Fogo Island had viable options to resettlement. With 400+ members, the Co-op is an important economic driver on Fogo Island and is dedicated to supporting the economic development of our island community. In addition to three Processing Plants located in the communities of Fogo, Joe Batts Arm, and Seldom, the Co-op operates a Marine Centre, Retail Store, Motel, Laboratory, and a Corporate Office.

Responsibilities:

1. Administer accounts payable and accounts receivable in accordance with company processes
2. Prepare and enter daily and month-end journal entries
3. Assist with the preparation of monthly and year-end financials and other reports as required
4. Support the execution of various accounting activities and projects as required
5. Payroll administration, including provincial and federal payroll related submissions
6. HST Administration and remittance
7. Cross train in existing accounting roles as part of succession planning
8. Share Capital Administration and reconciliation
9. Accounts Receivable Reconciliation
10. Prepare EFT's, wire transfers and other payments
11. Fish landings and other raw material purchase reporting
12. Harbour Authority Landings Reporting

Qualifications:

1. Completion of a Business Administration program or related experience
2. Experience using accounting software and systems
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills
4. Proficient in Excel
5. Ability to multitask, prioritize and accomplish tasks accurately and in a timely manner
6. Strong attention to detail and sharp organizational skills
