Position Summary

The University Health Network (UHN) is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as Manager of the TIDES 2.0 Workplace Violence Prevention (WPVP) Education Program. This new Manager role is central to UHN’s system-wide commitment to building a safer, trauma-informed, and psychologically supportive healthcare environment through the UHN TIDES (Trauma-Informed De-escalation Education for Safety and Self-Protection) program. Developed originally at CAMH and now delivered at UHN in partnership between CAMH and UHN; UHN TIDES reflects an evidence-based, interdisciplinary approach to workplace safety in healthcare. The Manager will lead a growing interdisciplinary education team and will work closely with clinical, administrative, Safety and security partners to ensure the seamless integration, scaling and maintenance of the TIDES 2.0 program at UHN. The role involves developing a new dyadic managerial model in partnership with the Manager of Training and Professional Standards (UHN Security Operations), reflecting the complex governance structure of workplace violence prevention at UHN. This includes shared leadership, coordinated planning, and multiple reporting lines to ensure alignment between Safety Services, People & Culture, UHN Security Operations, and key advisory and governance committees.

Duties
  • Manage the UHN TIDES 2.0 WPVP education team and provide strategic leadership and operational management of the program across UHN.
  • Oversee the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of WPVP education and simulation-based learning for clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Ensure alignment with UHN policies, accreditation standards, and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Collaborates with internal partners including Security Operations, People and Culture, Clinical & non-clinical leadership, Education, UHN senior leadership, key UHN governance committees and external partners such as peer institutions, training vendors, regulatory and certification bodies.
  • Develop program metrics, reports, and evaluation frameworks; present to senior leadership, the Workplace Violence Prevention Advisory Committee, and Code White Governance Committee.
  • Supervise and support WPVP Education Specialists and Coordinators, including scheduling, performance management, and professional development.
  • Work closely with the Manager of Training and Professional Standards (Security Operations) as part of a dyadic model to integrate healthcare security expertise into the TIDES 2.0 curriculum and coordinate leadership planning.
  • Support and participate in workplace violence incident follow-up, including multidisciplinary debriefs to contribute to system-level learning and workplace violence prevention education improvements.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Education, or related field; clinical background (e.g., nursing, allied health, psychiatry, social work) considered a strong asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of team management experience in clinical education or healthcare training programs, preferably related to workplace violence prevention, trauma-informed care, or safety and de-escalation.
  • Demonstrated success in leading interdisciplinary teams and educational initiatives within large, complex healthcare settings.
  • Strong experience in program design, implementation, evaluation, and quality improvement.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, simulation pedagogy, and trauma-informed practice required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and change management skills, with the ability to engage diverse partners across clinical and operational domains.
  • Familiarity with learning management platforms, and a strong understanding of Ontario’s healthcare and regulatory context preferred.
