Job summary

Position Summary

Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the Winter Break Sports Camp Instructor act as a role model and ambassador for McGill when demonstrating the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle through a combination of participation and instruction of camp physical activities to children ranging from ages 5-15 years old.

Duties
  • Participate in orientation for camp.
  • Greet and welcome campers as they arrive at camp.
  • Liaise with campers’ parents regarding campers’ specific needs and progress.
  • Lead and supervise campers and facilitate their participation during activities (i.e. tag, dodgeball, soccer and other basic games) to create a positive and memorable experience for all participants.
  • Design, plan and coordinate activities to meet objectives within an established operating schedule.
  • Assist with specialist led activities (i.e. aquatics, tennis, martial arts, basketball).
  • Know, enforce and follow all safety guidelines and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp and communicate all issues requiring attention to Section Leaders immediately.
  • Ensure safe movement of campers from one activity to another throughout the sports complex.
  • Monitor environment to ensure safety of campers and report any issues with campers and/or facilities to camp administration and report or contact the Winsor clinic staff in the event of any incidents requiring immediate medical attention.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
  • High School Diploma with one year of relevant experience in the field of work.
  • Currently enrolled in a McGill undergraduate or graduate program. Bilingual in English and French.

Selected candidates must successfully pass their criminal background check in order to be considered for this position.
