Job description

As an Intern reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, you'll be integrated into the Process Plant Department and collaborate closely with other Departments of the operation. Your role will involve ensuring the achievement of set goals and objectives while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental values.

  • Responsible of the Metallurgy laboratory daily routines;
  • Perform and prepare different sampling campaigns in the process for analyses;
  • Inspect and monitor the process samplers;
  • Fill, compile and analyze metallurgy data to create metallurgical models and optimize the process;
  • Perform specific surveys of the crushing, grinding, CIL/stripping circuits for KPI validation;
  • Validate the accuracy of the measurement equipment, perform the required maintenance and fill out work orders accordingly;
  • Improve the content of existing procedures;
  • Apply the best metallurgy practices;
  • Any other duty required by the Supervisor.
  • Enrolled in a degree program majoring in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Students must be enrolled in their university’s formal Co-op program.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, communication and team building skills.
  • A strong ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as a member of a team is required.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to handle change.
  • Demonstrate a high level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills including verbal and written as well as presentation skills required.
  • Promote a safety mindset and approach to ensure that all projects and activities carried out comply with safety regulations and AEM standards.

Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
