SCOPE OF POSITION:

Welder 2 performs MIG welding on various metals, ensuring all work to meet structural and visual standards. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, inspecting welds, maintaining equipment, and following safety protocols. The role also involves supporting process improvements and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Accurate job tracking and a commitment to a safe, organized workspace are essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform MIG welding on a variety of metals, including stainless steel, carbon steel, and galvanized steel.
  • Assemble specialty products with a moderate level of complexity with minimal supervision.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to assemble a product type that is within the product library.
  • May collaborate with the engineering team for improved product performance and design.
  • Ensure all welds meet structural and aesthetic standards.
  • Inspect welded surfaces for flaws and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Assist in training initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Record materials used and hours worked for job tracking as required during working hours.
  • Recommend improvements to welding techniques and processes.
  • Work collaboratively and safely with colleagues in cross-functional roles and departments for related projects.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent knowledge and experience.

AND

College-level certification in welding, fabrication or a related course.

  • At least 2 years of experience in welding and/or fabrication.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of measuring tools, including callipers, tape measures, straightedges, etc.
  • Experience completing checklists for product completion
  • Experience following standard operating procedures and adhering to workplace health and safety procedures.
  • Experience reviewing products for deviations and/or non-conformities
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and instructions
