WATER TREATMENT OPERATOR
BROOKS, AB

With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC ("JBS Canada") is one of Canada's largest beef processors. Consisting of four locations—the main processing facility located in Brooks, Alberta, where approximately 4,400 head of cattle are harvested and processed daily; the Head Office and a case ready plant, both based in Calgary, Alberta; and JBS Ontario, a case ready plant located in Belleville, Ontario. The JBS Canada facility in Brooks has the capacity to produce products ranging from boxed beef primals, ground beef, beef trimmings, beef by-products and hides which are shipped across Canada and worldwide. At the multi-protein Mountain Creek Farms case-ready facility in Calgary, JBS Canada produces value-added products including marinated, portion sized, multi-pack options, kebabs and much more. JBS Ontario in Belleville produces fresh meat and seafood products for leading retailers in Canada.

NOTE: THIS ROLE WILL BE LOCATED IN BROOKS, AB

You Will
  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Carry out the daily operation (regulatory monitoring and reporting process adjustments, chemical transferring and maintenance) of the facility;
  • Complete and compile data of daily inspections, monitoring, and sampling as required;
  • Report operational problems to the supervisor;
  • Perform maintenance tasks as requested by the supervisor;
  • Perform laboratory analysis and reporting;
  • Help the supervisor with the preparation of monthly and annual report;
  • Participate and comply with all aspects of the company’s health and safety program;
  • Adjust operational parameters based on readings from instruments and laboratory tests to ensure effective and efficient treatment;
  • Interpret test results and adjust treatment process as necessary;
  • Troubleshoot and correct process issues and mechanical failures;
  • Complete and submit all associated paperwork, as required, for regulatory and safety record keeping requirements.
You Have
  • Current Level I or II Water Treatment Operator Certification (proof of certification is required);
  • Ability to lift 25 kg (55 lb);
  • Intermediate to advanced mechanical knowledge;
  • Ability to work under pressure quickly and efficiently;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Microsoft Office experience;
  • Ability to work in all-weather elements;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team and safety focused environment;
  • Safety tickets such as First-Aid, Confined Space Entry, H2S Alive, and Fall Arrest is an asset;
  • Handling water and wastewater treatment chemicals.
