Qualifications

  • Graduate of Pharmacy Technician Program in Ontario or equivalent education program, recognized by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a pharmacy setting.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in prescription processing.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in computer systems and electronic record management.
  • Must be adaptable, reliable, and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and package prescriptions as directed by veterinarians.
  • Review prescriptions and provide usage instructions to clients.
  • Be accountable for the technical aspects of prescriptions.
  • Communicate with clients requesting prescriptions and products.
  • Manage inventory: order supplies, handle out-of-stock items.
  • Unpack and organize incoming food and medication orders.
  • Process payments for pharmacy and food purchases.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and post-surgical follow-ups.
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean work area.
  • Complete daily task lists and other duties as assigned.

About the Role: Reporting to the Pharmacy Supervisor and Managing DVMs, this detail-oriented role is essential in supporting our veterinary team by ensuring the precise and timely preparation of prescriptions and the meticulous management of pharmacy stock . Success in this position requires not only a deep commitment to accuracy and organization, but also professionalism, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Schedule:

  • Full-time position
  • Varying shifts including at least two afternoon shifts per week, and alternating Saturdays

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and package prescriptions as directed by veterinarians
  • Review prescriptions and provide usage instructions to clients
  • Be accountable and responsible for the technical aspects of both new and refill prescriptions (i.e., the correct patient, drug dosage form/route, dose, doctor)
  • Communicate with clients requesting prescriptions, food and OTC products
  • Manage inventory: order supplies, perform cycle counts, handle out-of-stock and expired items
  • Unpack and organize incoming food and medication orders
  • Process payments for pharmacy and food purchases
  • Assist with administrative tasks, microchip registrations, and post-surgical patient follow-ups
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Complete daily task lists and other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Graduate of Pharmacy Technician Program in Ontario or equivalent education program, recognized by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
