Position Overview
The Vendor Manager supports Business Banking by overseeing third‑party risk management, vendor governance, and contract lifecycle management across multiple lines of business. This role operates within the Business Banking Vendor Management Office (VMO) and partners closely with Legal, Sourcing, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure vendors meet regulatory, contractual, and performance expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic thought leader, supporting forward‑looking vendor management practices
- Facilitate all phases of the Third‑Party Risk Management (TPRM) lifecycle in compliance with policy, standards, and frameworks
- Complete inherent risk assessments for new or changing vendor relationships, including stakeholder review and approvals
- Monitor vendor performance and risk through dashboards, reporting, and governance routines
- Manage risk and issue escalation, partnering with business teams to drive remediation plans
- Lead and support contract renewals and negotiations, working with Legal, Sourcing, and Contracts partners
- Interpret and manage contractual terms and conditions, ensuring adherence and mitigating commercial risk
- Develop and assess SLAs, standards, policies, procedures, and compliance monitoring plans
- Review audit documentation (e.g., CSAE 3416, SOC I/II) and drive remediation of identified gaps
- Ensure organized evidence storage to maintain audit readiness
- Provide oversight for invoice processing, billing, rebates, penalties, and chargebacks
- Monitor vendor spend, identifying cost optimization opportunities and budget trends
- Utilize enterprise vendor tools such as ESP, ECM, Hiperos
- Support internal and external audit and compliance requirements
- Build strong relationships with business, sourcing, legal, and contract partners
- Coach and guide colleagues, sharing best practices and supporting team development
- Lead change management, performance management, and talent pipeline initiatives
Required Qualifications (Must‑Have)
- 5+ years of vendor management experience
- 5+ years in regulatory, governance, control, or risk oversight functions
- Strong experience working with third parties in regulated environments
- Proven ability to understand and interpret contractual language
- Ability to manage multiple vendor relationships simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have Skills
- Banking or financial services experience
- Familiarity with Ariba, Coupa, Archer
- Knowledge of client sourcing processes and methodologies
- Understanding of organizational structures within large financial institutions
