McGill University is seeking a University Registrar and Executive Director of Enrolment Services (ES), one who is visionary, creative, and who places student success and well‑being together with the academic mission of the University at the heart of their work.
The incumbent’s responsibilities span academic and student life across McGill, leading Enrolment Services and being a pivotal contributor to Strategic Enrolment Management. They implement Senate‑approved policies, university strategic plans related to academic planning, and government policy. Core responsibilities include implementing McGill’s new Undergraduate Student Enrolment & Experience (USEE) Strategic Plan, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture related to enrolment management, and taking strategic, calculated risks to advance institutional priorities.
The incumbent collaborates closely with senior academic and administrative leaders and Faculty Deans to establish and deliver annual undergraduate enrolment targets. They assume strategic oversight of key ES operational imperatives and maintain the archival integrity and accuracy of student records in perpetuity.
Supported by a senior team, the incumbent leads over 125 full‑time colleagues who provide services to academic units and to active students and alumni. They guide ES in supporting administrative and academic units to meet a broad array of outcomes, nurture effective relationships with colleagues in Montreal, Quebec, and pan‑Canadian professional communities, and manage an annual budget of approximately $12 M while generating additional annual net revenue.
The ideal candidate will have a relevant graduate degree, be fluent in English and French, and possess a minimum of seven years of experience as a senior academic leader. They must have demonstrated experience in all areas of responsibility indicated above, including developing enrolment strategies and achieving institutional enrolment goals, and successfully implementing major systems. Experience effectively leading and supporting large and diverse teams, political astuteness, excellent judgment, and success aligning team responsibilities with organizational priorities are required. Experience as a registrar at a large and complex institution is preferred.
The selected candidate will report directly to the Provost & Executive Vice‑President (Academic) and be appointed for a five‑year renewable term beginning in February 2026. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.
