About the Role

TEKsystems is proud to support one of Canada’s leading financial institutions in their search for a skilled Analyst, Residential Mortgage Underwriting. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team that plays a critical role in enabling sound lending decisions and supporting Canadians in their homeownership journey.

As an Underwriting Analyst, you’ll be responsible for reviewing and approving residential mortgage and real estate applications, applying sound judgment and risk assessment to ensure compliance with internal guidelines and regulatory standards.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Decision-Making: Negotiate, approve, decline, or recommend residential mortgage applications within authorized lending limits (up to $
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate credit applications by reviewing income, down payments, property appraisals, and other supporting documentation.
  • Collaboration: Communicate professionally with internal teams, brokers, insurers, appraisers, and solicitors to ensure smooth processing.
  • Productivity: Meet daily and weekly targets—reviewing 5 new files per day and managing 20–30 deals per week.
  • Agility: Adapt to high volumes and tight timelines while maintaining accuracy and due diligence.
  • Continuous Learning: Leverage technology and AI tools to improve efficiency and stay current with underwriting best practices.
What You Bring
  • 2–4 years of experience in retail mortgage underwriting, primarily residential.
  • Hands-on experience with Real Estate Secured Lending (RESL) and decision-making authority, including exception handling.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage documentation and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Technological proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to adopt AI tools for workflow optimization.
