Underground Mine Ventilation Engineer – Lead Safety and Efficiency in Underground Mining

Are you ready to take a central role in ensuring safe and effective ventilation in underground mining? We are seeking an experienced Underground Mine Ventilation Engineer to lead ventilation planning, monitoring, and compliance for an active underground mine.

You will be responsible for managing primary and secondary ventilation systems, conducting statutory vent surveys, monitoring dust and gas levels, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams. You will also guide junior engineers and contribute to infrastructure projects, ensuring safety and operational excellence.

Required Skills:
  • Expertise in underground mine ventilation planning, monitoring, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience with ventilation survey procedures and reporting
  • Proficiency with ventilation software such as Deswick and Ventsim
  • Knowledge of dust, gas, and air contaminant monitoring and relevant safety regulations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Understanding of drill and blast operations and their impact on ventilation
  • Leadership skills to supervise junior staff
  • Commitment to safety and hazard management
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with noise and vibration monitoring
  • Involvement in broader mine infrastructure projects
  • Mines Rescue and first aid certification
  • Exposure to geology, processing, or environmental teams
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent
  • Certified Ventilation Officer under current WA Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Previous underground ventilation officer experience
Other Requirements:
  • Comfortable working underground with regular site visits
  • Full C‑Class driver’s licence
  • Commitment to proactive safety management
  • Willingness to travel between underground and surface sites as needed
