About The Program

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) at TD is a global leader in asset and liability management. We are looking for advanced graduates to join our Treasury Associate Program.

At TBSM, we drive shareholder value by managing wholesale funding programs, funds transfer pricing, enterprise investment portfolio strategies and capital positions to generate stable earnings while optimizing the balance sheet within our risk appetite.

Our department is made up of over 250 professionals who provide expertise in balance sheet management across TD.

Job Description

What is the Program?

If you hold a graduate degree and enjoy data-driven finance and puzzles, we want you on our leadership track. The Treasury Associate Program is a two-year rotational program with four 6-month rotations. Rotations may include:

  • Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP): Support ad-hoc analysis, portfolio deep dives, documentation workflow and develop conclusions linked to risk management and transfer pricing methodologies.
  • Enterprise Capital Management (ECM): Support core capital forecasting and planning; partner with stakeholders for management discussions on capital; ad-hoc projects.
  • Funding: Learn funding programs, market dynamics, and execution processes; support new program launches, dashboards, competitive analysis and deal execution.
  • Liquidity: Support liquidity risk identification, measurement, forecasting and monitoring across TD Bank Group levels.

What You'll do

No matter where you work at TD you'll make a meaningful impact. For each rotation in the Treasury Associate Program:

Make an Impact:

  • Develop detailed, accurate financial reporting and forecasts with insightful commentary (MS Excel, Power Pivot, Query, Automate, Access, Tableau, Alteryx, etc.).
  • Use financial, data and project tools to ensure success, efficiency and productivity.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to automate and increase accuracy of data analysis to influence financial decisions.

Experience Growth:

  • Work with key partners on hedging, new product offerings, pricing decisions, etc.
  • Manage multiple projects with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Invest in personal development; seek constructive feedback.
  • Develop breadth of experience in core Treasury disciplines.

Cultivate Our Culture of Care:

  • Represent Treasury on cross-functional groups and projects.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external advisors as appropriate.
  • Build a wide network between Finance, Treasury and TD teams.
  • Participate in specialized programming and structured training.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellence in academics with extracurriculars.
  • Strong numeracy and experience with financial/quantitative analysis, modeling or hedging.
  • Quantitative mindset pursuing a Treasury/Balance Sheet Management career.
  • Strong focus on process simplification, automation and data analysis.
  • Tech-savvy; quick to learn new tools.
  • Understanding of financial markets, instruments, regulatory environments, transfer pricing.
  • Self-starter with problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong technical proficiency with Bloomberg, SQL, Confluence, Jira, Excel, Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI, VBA, R, Python and related tools.
Additional Information

Specific Educational Requirements, Accreditations and Experience:

  • Graduate degree within the last two years or completing a quantitative graduate degree (Finance, Economics, Math, Engineering, Statistics, Data) or MBA.
  • At least 3 years’ work experience post-undergrad with increasing responsibilities in a related field.
  • Professional designations are assets (CFA, CPA, FRM).
