Overview

Transitional Case Manager, Justice and Court Services – Direct Service - (OPSEU)

At this time we are posting for two full-time, contract positions. End dates: one on March 9, 2026; the other on May 1, 2026. Location: London, Ontario (London Zone).

Responsibilities
  • Work with clients to address underlying issues that led to contact with the justice system.
  • Provide counselling that builds on clients' strengths to support steps toward recovery, with aims to improve quality of life, reduce harm, and prevent future interactions with the justice system.
  • Attend court and communicate with justice partners regarding progress; advocate for the best interests of clients.
  • Prepare written reports for submission to the Court.
  • Support clients in attending court appointments and collaborate with relevant community resources.
  • Follow program support guidelines and work collaboratively to develop, implement, and monitor individualized plans.
What We’re Offering
  • Salary – Starting rate for Level 1 – Direct Service is $27.14 per hour, with a wage differential based on regulation. $30.01 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated.
    • Regulated designation: wage differential applies to those registered with designated professional colleges (e.g., OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO).
    • External applicants start at Level 1 with grid progression up to Level 8 (non-regulated: $34.41/hr; regulated: $37.26/hr).
    • Internal applicants: grid level placement per Collective Agreement.
  • Hours – Approximately 70 hours over a two-week period; 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with one unpaid hour for lunch. Hours may vary occasionally.
  • Benefits – 9% in lieu of benefits.
  • Pension – Immediate eligibility for optional enrollment in HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan).
How You Will Make a Difference
  • Support mental health and addiction clients who have been charged with low-risk offences.
  • Advocate for, establish, and maintain appropriate community linkages for clients.
  • Conduct functional, clinical, and needs assessments.
  • Prepare written reports for submission to the Court.
  • Support clients in attending court appointments and collaborate with relevant community resources.
  • Develop and monitor individualized plans in alignment with program guidelines.
Qualifications and Requirements

What you’ll need to apply:

Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) – Must be completed within the last six months. Applicants needing PVSC are encouraged to apply early to avoid delays.

Required qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant field (social work, psychology, or occupational therapy). A degree in nursing may be considered equivalent when combined with relevant specialization.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Vehicle insurance in compliance with CMHA TVAMHS policy.
  • Current, clear PVSC.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly.

Preferred qualifications

  • Current registration in good standing with a relevant professional regulatory body.
  • Knowledge and skills in clinical and functional assessment, service planning, relapse prevention, and client advocacy.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatment approaches for individuals with severe mental illness and addictions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Two or more years’ experience working with individuals with mental illness and addictions.
  • Experience in case management and in supportive roles within the justice system.
  • Current certifications in NVCI, Standard CPR/First Aid, and/or ASIST.
  • Bilingual in both official languages is preferred.
