Position Overview

The switchboard operator is responsible for courteous and effective telephone, paging and inquiry services for the hospital.

Experience
  • At least one-year previous experience as a telephone operator or one-year receptionist experience essential, preferably in a health care setting.
  • Experience in the use of an ATD application preferred.
  • Experience in windows environment essential.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Grade 12 education.
  • Medical Terminology certificate preferred.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Accurate typing 40 words per minute.
  • Excellent command of the English language both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, work independently and made effective decisions.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
