Job description
About CSMC

CSMC is a space and defence technology company developing dual-use systems at the intersection of nuclear energy, quantum sensing, and resources to solve long-term problems in space and immediate challenges on Earth.

Our projects span micro-nuclear reactors, quantum-enabled sensing, and geophysics-driven solutions for remote and mission-critical environments.

The Role

We’re hiring a Technical Business Development Lead (approx. 3–5+ years’ experience) to own strategic opportunities with defence, aerospace, nuclear, mining and industrial customers.

You’ll be a high-autonomy IC who:

  • Leads strategic BD and capture (including RFPs/RFQs)
  • Drives partnerships and teaming with primes, integrators, and technology partners
  • Produces elite technical proposals and customer materials in close collaboration with engineering
What You’ll Do
  • Own a pipeline of high-value opportunities across defence, aerospace, energy, and critical infrastructure.
  • Lead RFP/RFQ responses end-to-end: requirement breakdown, win themes, writing, and submission.
  • Draft and refine technical proposals, concept notes, and capability decks that stand up to scrutiny from engineers and program offices.
  • Work with the technical team to support the development of technology solutions, and project manage the execution of those projects.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering and external partners to ensure solutions are technically credible and deliverable.
  • Help shape account and capture strategy (positioning, teaming, pricing logic, value narrative).
  • Feed structured market and customer insight into CSMC’s product and roadmap discussions.
  • Travel: occasional visits to customer sites, demos, and conferences as needed.
You’re a Great Fit If You Have
  • 3–5+ years in business development, capture, technical sales, or partnerships in one or more of: a) Defence / aerospace systems; b) Nuclear, energy, or critical infrastructure; c) Quantum / sensing / deep-tech hardware; d) Geophysics / subsurface imaging / survey solutions
  • A track record of helping to win complex B2B or government opportunities (RFPs, tenders, pilots, or multi-year contracts).
  • Strong technical writing skills: you’ve written proposals, white papers, or SOWs with real technical content.
  • Comfort engaging with system-level engineering discussions (constraints, environments, integration trade-offs) even if you’re not doing detailed design.
  • Solid project coordination skills: managing timelines, aligning multiple contributors, and delivering under deadline.
  • A builder mindset: you like early-stage environments, ambiguous problems, and wearing multiple hats.
Bonus points for:
  • Experience in quantum technology or nuclear (industry, research, or vendors).
  • Exposure to geophysics / subsurface sensing as a user, seller, or partner.
  • Background in engineering, physics, geoscience, or a technical adjacent field – or a business degree plus clear technical track record.
