The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre is looking to hire a full-time Team Lead, Engineering Services – Glenbow, in the Engineering Services Department. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Building Operations, this position is responsible for the supervision and direct “hands-on” operation and maintenance of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, thermal and moisture protection, building automation, and life-safety systems of the Glenbow Museum, along with ensuring the department continues to provide established high service standards while maintaining or improving productivity, efficiency, and safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform “hands-on” duties in operating and maintaining the operating systems and equipment for the Glenbow Museum. Work alongside the Facility Management leadership team to allocate necessary shared resources to properly maintain the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, thermal and moisture protection, building automation, and life-safety systems of the Glenbow Museum.
- Supervises all aspects of service provided by the department as it relates to the Glenbow Museum to ensure client and guest satisfaction.
- Work with the Senior Manager, Building Operations, to develop a business plan and budget (operating and capital) to support all equipment and supplies replacement, refurbishing, and maintenance for the Glenbow Museum.
- Work closely with the Team Lead, Maintenance Services, on architectural projects within the Glenbow Museum.
- Purchase and maintain a comprehensive inventory of departmental equipment and supplies for the Glenbow Museum and ensure proper paperwork is in place for these purchases (i.e. chemicals, lighting, filters, plumbing etc.).
- Develop, schedule and administer the preventative maintenance program for the assets of the Glenbow Museum.
- Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with suppliers, contractors, internal departments, in-house partners and other interested parties.
- Ensure the Glenbow operating systems are maintained and operating to all standards set within the respective Acts, Regulations, and Legislation within the Province of Alberta related to the operation of an AA rated Museum.
- Demonstrate leadership of health and safety programs and provides training, information, and assistance to department employees in compliance with the health and safety policies.
- Coach, supervise and develop staff to have the skills, knowledge and support needed to provide high-quality customer service and ensure operational efficiencies.
- Assist in the development, implementation, adherence, and updating of departmental operating policies and procedures and recommend improvements and innovations that will better reflect the facility's needs and improve efficiency or service.
- Participate in disciplinary issues and progressive improvement plans in consultation with the Senior Manager, Building Operations, and the Human Resources Department.
- Schedule, supervise, and assist outside contractors on-site.
- Complete logbook entries with data arising from functional checks of mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems in the Glenbow Museum and report any data outside of normal operating parameters.
- Perform equipment checks in all areas within the span of control, adjusting where required to maintain parameters.
- Perform housekeeping and painting tasks in the engineering and mechanical areas as required.
- Repair and maintain kitchen equipment (i.e. stoves, dishwashers, steamers etc.) in the Glenbow Museum.
- Assist the Electrician with any repairs to the electrical system in the Glenbow Museum.
- Perform the shutdown of utilities and emergency equipment that services the Glenbow Museum as required.
- Respond to any plumbing concerns in the Glenbow Museum and perform the necessary repairs.
- Maintain sprinklers and fire alarm monitoring systems for the Glenbow Museum.
- Ensure elevators and escalators in the Glenbow Museum are repaired and maintained.
- Conduct regular lighting maintenance in the Glenbow Museum.
- Maintain air circulation systems and filters for units supporting and within the Glenbow Museum.
- Pickup department deliveries from the loading dock.
- Assist the maintenance department with the facility snow removal.
- Respond to service calls and assist other departments when required.
- Work flexible and overtime hours, including responding to the building in emergency situations.
- Assist Engineering Services operations of the North and South Building of the CTCC when required.
- Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of large commercial buildings with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience with the Siemens Desigo system (asset).
- Experience with AA controlled environments would be a definite asset.
- Must be able to pass a police record check.
- Flexibility to work shift hours and overtime hours, including responding to the building in emergency situations.
Education
- Must possess and provide proof of a valid Province of Alberta Power Engineer 4th Class Certificate of Competency or higher.
Physical Requirements
- Physically fit to have the ability to lift up to 60lbs (equipment) and push/pull a maximum of 444lbs.
- Comfortable working at heights.
- To be able to discern colors.
