Location: Ottawa, ON, K1B 4S5

Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on‑site and off‑site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in‑person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full‑Time Systems Analyst I, Blood Management Solutions Technology to join our dynamic IT Internal Customer Experience team.

The IT Internal Customer Experience team is responsible for ensuring a positive and seamless experience for internal users within Canadian Blood Services who interact with IT services and systems.

Responsibilities
  • Leveraging your technical aptitude and eagerness to learn, you will work with senior team members in supporting the technology lifecycle of enterprise blood management and laboratory systems.
  • Applying your technical skills, you will maintain system environments (development, staging, production), supporting configuration changes, updates, and cloud‑hosted systems.
  • Employing your collaboration skills, you will assist in documenting system changes, impacts, and support activities, helping to maintain quality, performance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Using your engagement skills, you will help coordinate with CBS and technology vendors on assigned tasks, including tracking issues, validating fixes, and supporting releases.
  • Drawing on your communication abilities, you will contribute to a culture of teamwork, transparency, and proactive problem‑solving, keeping senior analysts and stakeholders informed.
  • Applying your growing technical insight, you will support process improvements, routine automation, and operational enhancements.
Qualifications
  • University degree in computer science, information systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1–2 years’ experience in IT, system support, or enterprise application operations, including exposure to multi‑environment systems.
  • Good organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of IT operational environments, including development, support, and maintenance responsibilities.
  • Exposure to environment management, configuration control, and IT infrastructure processes.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes, including change management, is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and scripting or automation tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior analysts, IT teams, business stakeholders, and vendors in a dynamic environment.

What you can expect
  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at a Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2 days of the week.
  • You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.
  • If you are located outside of Ottawa, you may be expected to travel to our office location in Ottawa – 2540 Lancaster Rd, twice quarterly for in‑person team meetings when required.
