Summary of the role

The Project Engineer bridges the boundaries between engineering and project management, leading the technical activities as a whole with the Engineering, Procurement and Installation teams. The PE is the primary technical point of contact for the customer and reports to the Project Manager.

RESPONSABILITIES

  • Ensures effective coordination between engineering, construction, and project controls groups;
  • Organizes and facilitates meetings regarding technical activities and design reviews;
  • Ensures stakeholders interpret the technical specification and expectations correctly;
  • Defines the technical strategy and the supply plan in collaboration with the Project Manager and the Procurement Department;
  • Participates in the selection, negotiations and technical discussions of the main suppliers and sub-contractors;
  • Responsible for making sure engineering deliverables and supply deliveries are made on-time and according to established quality criteria for all systems related to their projects;
  • Follows-up on Non-Conformances and Change Management with the customer and engineering;
  • In collaboration with the Project Manager, analyzes, defines and implements a contingency plan to correct any issues or deviations that can have an impact on their projects.

  • Bachelor of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering;
  • Certified member of the O.I.Q.;
  • Experience in the fields of hydroelectricity, energy producing equipment or related design and manufacturing activities;
  • Proven leadership and experience in technical coordination of engineering activities and subcontracting;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in French and English.
