Your role

Radio-Canada Estrie is currently seeking one (1) Switcher-Producer (Show Director) for its newsroom in Estrie.

As a switcher-producer, you will broadcast and edit the Téléjournal Estrie and other programs in whole or in part. You will program, start and ensure the proper functioning of the automated referral system on the air and you will ensure the proper functioning of peripheral equipment such as the writing synthesizer, the sound console, BCCs, robotics, intercom, system graph and weather system. You will also be responsible for ensuring that technical requirements are verified prior to broadcasts. You will also ensure the control of the technical quality of the programs. You will also be required to upload digital content.

Contract and schedule

This is a full-time, one-year replacement position, assigned from Thursday to Sunday. However, this schedule may be modified according to work organization, editorial requirements, and operational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Broadcast and edit the Téléjournal Estrie and other programs in whole or in part.
  • Program and start the automated referral system on the air.
  • Ensure proper functioning of peripheral equipment (writing synthesizer, sound console, BCCs, robotics, intercom, system graph and weather system).
  • Verify technical requirements prior to broadcasts and maintain technical quality of programs.
  • Upload digital content.
Qualifications
  • College diploma in electronics, audiovisual production or other relevant field.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience performing related duties.
  • Able to work well under pressure for extended periods; good general knowledge; keen interest in working in a newsroom environment; able to work well with multiple people.
  • Editorial judgment, leadership and decision-making skills; initiative; team spirit; interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent spoken and written French; intermediate English (oral, writing and reading).
  • Proficiency with IT tools.
