Overview

Vernon Jubilee Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Switchboard Operator | Registration Clerk to join their team in Vernon, BC. This position works rotating days, evenings and nights: 07:00 to 15:00, 09:00 to 14:00, 11:00 to 19:00, 15:00 to 23:00, 23:00 to 07:00, 23:59 to 07:59.

Work hours range from 0 to 37.5 per week, with shifts available on short notice or pre-scheduled to cover leaves. What Will You Work On?

This position operates the switchboard, public address and paging systems, accepting and directing calls from a variety of customers according to established policies, standards and procedures; receives and directs patients and visitors; registers patients; responds to and monitors hospital alarms and emergency codes; maintains physician on-call/vacation lists; and performs a variety of clerical duties related to receiving and registering of patients, identifying bed booking options, and cashier functions.

  • A 5-minute typing test (45+ NWPM) from a recognized institution, completed within the past 48 months (non-supervised tests not accepted).
  • Your résumé outlining two years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • A Medical Terminology Certificate.
  • A Cover Letter stating your availability to start in a new position and on-call, casual work (i.e., days of the week).
