Primary Focus
Coordinates the procurement and purchasing functions within Terra Foods, ensuring an optimal flow of inventory to maximize return on investment while meeting customer and organizational objectives.
Specific Accountabilities
- Facilitate the seamless and timely arrival of products in line with sales and customer demand.
- Synchronize supply with sales forecasted demands:
Work with Sales Team to understand sales forecast data
Understand marketing projections and analyze order spikes.Align supply with sales forecasts on a 52-week schedule.Review and adapt forecasts based on sales team input.Measure and review supply versus forecast performance.Evaluate in-stock and aggregate inventory positions daily to determine purchasing needs, considering value, flow, availability, space management, and code date requirements.Prepare monthly rolling forecasts covering 3 to 24 months.Manage purchasing P&L, inventory turns, and CoGS across in-stock, in transit, in pipeline, and future inventory.Coordinate Terra Foods orders with supplier production schedules.Formulate purchase orders to optimize shipment sizes and minimize freight costs.Evaluate transport costs for the best cost/service balance and coordinate inbound freight.Maintain inventory records in software and ensure adherence to inventory management controls. Prepare and report inventory adjustments.Gather information to update product data for new and changed items.Serve as liaison with suppliers, freight forwarders, transport companies, and customs brokers for inbound shipments.Follow good importing practices as governed by CFIA.Perform other duties as reasonably assigned.Contribute positively as a team member within Terra Foods, and with customers and suppliers.Skills & Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
- Ability to maintain accurate and timely reporting systems.
- Use initiative and judgment to investigate and resolve purchasing discrepancies.
- Work efficiently under pressure and stay motivated to meet requirements.
- Five or more years of purchasing experience or completion of a Post-Secondary Supply Chain Management or Procurement program, or a BSc/BA in Logistics, Business Analytics, or Mathematics.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- CPIM / CSCP certification is a plus.
- High attention to detail and proven critical thinking skills.
