Job description
Job Description – Supervisor, Exploration (Fly-In Fly-Out) (MEL01517)

Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, you will be part of the Geology Department. You will play an important role in managing the Exploration team and its activities; performing good geological practices in terms of drill hole planning and follow‑up, geological interpretation and some 3D modelling, exploration/resources conversion target generation, assisting in the ounce projection exercises, core logging/sampling follow‑up, ensuring the compliance with QA/QC and preparing reports. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the diamond drilling programs;
  • Manage the Mine Site Exploration team;
  • Conceive exploration and/or resources conversion diamond drilling programs;
  • Participate in the interpretation of the surrounding geology and in the 3D modelling of the geology;
  • Assist with the delineation drilling programs in collaboration with the production geologists;
  • Incorporate the new assay results into the 3D software and the DDH logger’s database;
  • Ensure that QA/QC is properly respected in the sampling process;
  • Participate in quarterly/bi‑yearly QA/QC validation and reporting;
  • Assist with the mine operation meetings and the monthly safety meeting;
  • Assist in preparing the weekly, monthly, quarterly reports;
  • Assist in budget exercises when needed;
  • Assist in ounce projection exercises;
  • Create, verify and implement procedures for the Geology Department;
  • Daily follow‑up and supervision of DDH contractor;
  • Participate in training the Mine Exploration team;
  • Ensure the drilling sites are safe;
  • Create yearly objectives with employees and conduct the personal evaluations at mid‑year and at year‑end (Short Term Incentive Bonus – salaried employees);
  • Review the mine geology and its accordance with the model;
  • Prepare cross‑shift notes and ensure good communication with cross‑shifts.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Geology Engineering;
  • 10 years of experience in exploration, knowledge of Au‑hosted BIFs/orogenic deposit is considered an asset, strong understanding of structural geology/deformation is also considered an asset;
  • Mining Modules or Common Core is considered an asset;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Knowledge of the following software: Datamine, DHLogger/Fusion, AutoCad, Deswik, ArcGIS are considered an asset.

Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.

Your Work Schedule

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest.
