PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

In this impactful role, you’ll perform essential railroad bridge inspections and provide expert evaluations of field conditions—directly contributing to the safety and reliability of our rail network. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Lead scheduled, periodic, underwater, and emergency railroad bridge inspections in accordance with CPKC requirements, Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Regulation and Transport Canada safety guidelines
  • Perform bridge inspections utilizing bridge inspection vehicle
  • Complete monthly safety testing and evaluation of CPKC and contractor employees
  • Make recommendations to territory Manager Bridge Maintenance regarding the inspection and maintenance of bridges
  • Facilitate action plans based on detailed inspection results with the Railroad Bridge Engineer
  • Complete inspections of moveable bridges, overhead highway structures, culverts, retaining walls, and turntables
  • Directing assignment, use, and operation of bridge inspection vehicle
  • Required to request and acquire all necessary track authorities to conduct on‑track bridge inspections
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or general equivalency
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of 4 years of railroad bridge experience or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Valid passport with ability to travel to U.S./CAN without restrictions
  • Knowledge of field inspection, maintenance, and construction practices for railroad bridges
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with coworkers to support effective management of bridge inspection and maintenance programs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency in computer systems
  • Participate in on‑call schedule for emergency response, ensuring operational coverage

PRE‑EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre‑employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

MANAGEMENT CONDUCTOR PROGRAM

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
