Summer Student - Assistant Lifeguard/Instructor

Town of Tillsonburg is looking for four (4) responsible Assistant Lifeguard/Instructors to provide instructional assistance for Aquatic Programming provided to all ages, safeguarding of all patrons while swimming and assisting with health and safety requirements and emergency response.

This is a seasonal student position with an option to enroll in OMERS defined benefit pension plan.

Responsibilities
  • To provide assistant instruction in the current Tillsonburg Community Centre Aquatic Programs
  • To endeavor at all times to work as a team with supervisors and fellow staff members
  • To understand and follow all emergency procedures and use of emergency equipment
  • To attend all staff training sessions and staff meetings
  • To interact with members of the public in a helpful and respectful manner
  • To be familiar with all swimming programs and provide accurate and current information to the public
  • Proven track record of reliability, professionalism and good work ethic
  • Performs other related duties as required and designated by the Aquatics Supervisor
Qualifications
  • Bronze Cross Certification
  • Standard First Aid + CPR
  • Availability to work after school, evenings, and weekends.
  • Must be returning to school in the fall.
Interview Process
  • Virtual Behavioural Interview
    • Conducted online.
    • Evaluates communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
    • Provides an opportunity to discuss past experiences and situational responses.
  • Wet Interview (If successful in the initial step)
    • Conducted in the pool.
    • Required for both new and returning staff.
    • Focuses on demonstrating practical skills, safety procedures, and in-water competency.
