Salary Range: $18.42/hour

Position: Student Assistant – Student Leadership, Student Life

What it takes

Student Life is looking for Student Assistants to assist with the creation and implementation of student leadership and volunteering programming and related events and activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the creation and implementation of all student leadership programming and events
  • Assisting with creating learning outcomes and programming through consultation with students and campus partners
  • Overseeing event registration and participant communication
  • Meet regularly with the Student Life Coordinator

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Has been a Douglas College student for at least one academic year
  • Has been involved on campus (e.g., in a club or student group, has volunteered or worked as a student assistant)
  • Has some experience or knowledge in event planning
  • Ability to deal with issues with maturity and thoughtfulness
  • Detail-oriented, organized, responsible, professional and flexible
  • Comfortable working with limited supervision
  • Open to cultures, practices, and sexual orientations different from your own
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to inclusion and cultural sensitivity to diverse student groups
  • Flexibility to work at either campus (New Westminster and Coquitlam)
  • Basic working knowledge of Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Experience in event planning (desired)

Leadership experience (desired).

Eligibility

Domestic and International student eligibility criteria are described below. An original copy of a Social Insurance Number (SIN) and an original Study Permit are required by law before commencing work at Douglas College.

  • Domestic students must meet ONE of the criteria related to course enrollment and intake.
  • International students must meet ONE of the criteria described, including full-time enrollment or valid Study Permit with eligibility to work on or off campus.

Qualified Douglas College students will be given first preference.

Additional Information

Location: New Westminster Campus and Coquitlam Campus. Hours: up to 20 hours/week. Work terms:

  • Fall 2025: September 2, 2025 – December 15, 2025
  • Winter 2026: January 5, 2026 – April 24, 2026
  • Summer 2026: May 4, 2026 – August 16, 2026
