The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a Structural Designer or EIT to join our Infrastructure Facilities W/WW Structural Team located at our Thornhill office. Reporting to the discipline lead, the Structural Engineer or EIT will be an integral part of the team, dedicated to delivering high-quality design projects to multiple clients. What can you expect to do here:
  • Involvement in the engineering analysis and design of water treatment plants, reservoirs, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, underground liquid retaining tanks, chambers, solid waste management facilities, and other types of infrastructure with the help of the senior engineer or team lead.
  • Performing structural design under the supervision of senior engineers using software, spreadsheets, and hand calculations for structural components or parts of the structural system.
  • Creating markups based on analytical results for drafters for project production via Bluebeam software or manual markups. Developing project specifications.
  • Conducting site visits for sewage pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants, and reservoirs for new construction reviews or existing facility structure condition assessments.
  • Performing assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
  • Engaging in construction support services, including shop drawing reviews and responding to requests for information (RFIs).
  • Working individually or as a team member with the electrical discipline under the direct supervision of senior engineers.
  • Taking on other duties as assigned
We’d love to hear from you if you have….
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent; a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering will be an asset.
  • A minimum of 0-5 years of relevant experience with a design consultant in Ontario and Canada.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or equivalent status with the Professional Engineers Association in the provinces of Canada.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong desire and ability to collaborate and problem-solve in an integrated team environment.
  • The ability to perform interdisciplinary coordination with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Architectural disciplines per project requirements.
  • Good writing skills and the ability to prepare meeting minutes, technical memoranda, and reports.
  • Knowledge and experience in using industry codes and standards, such as OBC, NBCC, CSA A23.1/2, CSA A23.3, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of structural analysis and design software, such as Staad.Pro, S-Frame series, and CSI series software. Basic knowledge of BIM360 and REVIT.
  • The ability to work independently to deliver comprehensive designs and meet client-driven deadlines.
  • Site inspection experiences, and own valid driver's license.
