Overview

Strategic Account Manager – Automation, Edmonton, AB

Global company with a renowned corporate culture is seeking an experienced Strategic Account Manager to drive growth in industrial products and solutions. The role covers the Northern Alberta Territory with the ability to work from a home office in the Greater Edmonton Area when not dealing directly with clients. The manager will identify and develop new business opportunities, strengthen relationships with existing customers, and provide value-added advisory solutions. You will collaborate with sales specialists and distributors, anticipate customer needs, create proposals, and maintain accurate sales data while contributing to strategic account plans. Continuous learning, industry awareness, and leveraging all available sales resources will be key to achieving targets and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate in developing and executing the sales strategy for industrial products and solutions to support sustained regional growth
  • Lead strategic account analysis with the team to define action plans, identify opportunities, and establish market position
  • Identify and pursue new automation and control business opportunities within assigned customers and territories, with support from sales and technical experts
  • Drive sales growth by building relationships with new customers and deepening connections with existing clients to create opportunities and implement targeted strategies
  • Leverage value-added services to establish partnerships, understand customer needs, and deliver advisory technical solutions while exceeding expectations and acting with urgency
  • Anticipate and assess customer needs to provide effective consultations and solutions
  • Develop and present business proposals tailored to customer requirements
  • Maintain accurate sales data in the Customer Relationship Management System and other internal platforms, while generating forecasts and implementing gap-closing strategies
  • Work closely with sales specialists across business units and with distributors to coordinate efforts and optimize results
  • Identify, qualify, and maintain a pipeline of business opportunities to meet organizational objectives and sales targets
  • Stay informed on industry trends, engage with professional associations where possible, and continuously enhance sales skills and technical knowledge
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in technical sales, business development, or consulting within the industrial sector
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering or Business
  • Strong knowledge of automation products (PLC, HMI, IPC, industrial networking, security, and SCADA) and their practical applications
  • Technical and commercial expertise in industrial automation, including motor controls, drives, motion controls, MCCs, and capture/security devices
  • Demonstrated success in sales, customer service, and effective communication
  • Proficiency with, or ability to quickly learn, technical and financial estimation tools
  • Skilled in building and maintaining long-term business relationships
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective presentation and negotiation abilities
  • Highly organized with excellent time management and self-motivation
  • Driven by results with a strong focus on achieving targets
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
