Overview

BASES (Burnaby Association for the South East Side) is a non-profit organization that assists children and youth in Burnaby and New Westminster in developing their academic, physical and personal potential through the delivery of quality out-of-school programming. BASES Family Thrift Store is our primary method of raising money for this mission. Our thrift store also provides opportunities for volunteering and skills training, and is a vibrant place of neighbourhood community.

The Position: You will manage, nurture and honour a thriving community of volunteers, employees and donors, and will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the store. You will report to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities
  • Managing day-to-day store operations (sorting, stocking, pricing, receiving donations, and general maintenance)
  • Training and scheduling of staff and volunteers, and promoting their development
  • Creating and maintaining a pleasing retail presentation for customers
  • Creating sales analysis reports, budget input, and other reporting as necessary for the Executive Director
  • Maintaining the store’s social media presence
Qualifications
  • Secondary School diploma
  • Retail experience in a supervisory or management position
  • Experience in working with volunteers
  • Physical ability to move freely and lift moderate weight
  • Enthusiasm for and commitment to supporting the mission and values of BASES
