Who You Will Be Joining

Our hive, headquartered in Toronto, is looking for a new Staff Product Manager to lead our ecosystem strategy and partner integrations! We are a team full of creative ideas with a passion for building world‑class products and services and a drive to get things done.

You will bring your extensive knowledge and experience in platform integrations to develop and execute an ecobee‑wide strategy for platform products; operating both near‑term, to deliver impact almost immediately, as well as long‑term, to ensure we’re putting platform thinking at the center of everything we do.

Ideally, you have worked in a product leadership role at a world‑class organization (regardless of its size), leading teams that build & ship complex technical products. You’ve acted as a change agent, transforming and modernizing products and organizations to leverage 3rd party integrations to delight customers and drive operational efficiencies.

This role follows a hybrid schedule, with in‑office work required on Wednesdays and Thursdays to support collaboration, and flexibility to work remotely for the remainder of the week.
How you’ll make an impact:

As a Staff Product Manager at ecobee, you will:

  • Gain experience as a senior leader in a growing business.
  • Work closely with some of the industry’s biggest device manufacturers, platform owners, and service providers to deliver a cohesive and delightful ecobee experience within our ecosystem, and within partner ecosystems.
  • Play a pivotal role in shaping our platform strategy, directly influencing the experience of millions of users and the future of smart home technology.
  • Develop an updated strategy for how we bring 3rd party devices into the ecobee ecosystem and how ecobee devices are controlled via smart home platforms (e.g. Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Apple's Siri, etc)
  • Partner with your peers in product and business development to develop, evangelize, and execute a platform strategy for each of ecobee’s businesses.
  • Establish and execute a strategy for key standards, initially with Matter which governs interoperability across smart home devices.
  • Lead the product discovery process by working directly with current and future customers, including, conducting interviews and research to define business requirements.
  • Understand the customers that use the products today, why they do so and how can we make their lives better with product innovation.
  • Define and execute on clear success metrics and support the team to achieve them.
  • Help the team navigate tough decisions by surfacing trade‑offs and making a clear, rational recommendation.

  • 5+ years of experience delivering highly successful and innovative platform strategies, partnerships and integrations.
  • Deep experience with standards body participation and governance.
  • You excel at negotiating and influencing partner integrations to deliver a cohesive customer experience aligned with corporate strategy.
  • You have a proven record of delivering highly impactful products to customers.
  • You bring strong analytical thinking, natural curiosity, and a drive to take action.
  • You continuously seek new knowledge and enjoy solving complex, high‑impact problems.
  • You are deeply customer‑focused and understand how users engage with your products better than anyone else.

Application review

Interview Process:
  • A 30‑minute phone/video call with a member in Talent Acquisition.
  • A first round 60‑minute virtual interview with the hiring manager – expect technical, behavioural and situational questions.
  • The second round of interviews will be four 1:1s with cross functional leaders.
  • If your second‑round interview goes well, you can expect a take home case study, which you get a week to work on, you'll then come in virtually to present your solution to the team.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 – 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer‑based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
