Senior Data Analyst / Business Analyst

Job Summary
Reporting to the Lead Data Analyst within the GWAM Data Office / Engineering team, the Senior Data Analyst works closely with the Data Management and Delivery teams and other project stakeholders. This role is responsible for ensuring that data solutions deliver meaningful business value and align with the organization’s data strategy. The role involves leading requirements gathering, data analysis, documentation, stakeholder alignment, and user acceptance activities across complex, data-centric initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business requirement gathering sessions and obtain formal business sign-off.
- Produce and maintain Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Source-to-Target Mappings (STMs), and other data analysis artifacts.
- Ensure delivered data assets meet documented business requirements and quality standards.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Perform data analysis, data profiling, and metadata collection activities.
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities and obtain business approval.
- Provide ongoing support to ensure data solutions continue to meet evolving business needs.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, preferably within Capital Markets, Finance, or Wealth Management domains.
- 3+ years of experience working with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure or AWS.
- Experience delivering data-centric initiatives including Master Data Management, Data Integration, Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, and Big Data analytics environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Solid understanding of data models and data warehouse concepts, with the ability to provide input to data modelers.
- Experience gathering end-to-end requirements for data ingestion and curation processes.
- Hands-on experience with data profiling and writing SQL queries for data validation and analysis.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality data documentation within complex organizations and tight timelines.
- Experience with major trading platforms and book-of-record systems such as Bloomberg PolarLake, SimCorp Dimension, Findur, Apex, Eagle, Charles River, Sylvan, or Calypso.
- Exposure to or hands-on experience with Generative AI (GenAI) technologies is considered an asset.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is CAD $90,000 – $110,000, depending on experience, skills, and location. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses in accordance with company compensation policies.
