Job Overview

As an Android Engineer, you have the knowledge and skills to create breakthrough technology to help bring Owlet smart devices to life. In addition to collaborating with other Android developers to create top-tier applications, you'll also join forces with other engineering disciplines to create a comprehensive, innovative smart-device experience. Primary Responsibilities
  • Design and build customer-facing apps for the Android platform
  • Own tasks end-to-end with a proactive, solution-driven mindset in a fast-paced environment.
  • Architect modular, reusable code
  • Collaborate with the product team to define, design, and ship new features
  • Write clean code and comprehensive tests
  • Work with outside data sources and APIs
  • Work on bug fixing and improving app performance
  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technology
Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in a computer oriented field (or equivalent experience) and 5+ years of work experience
  • Deep understanding of Android paradigms
  • Passion for Kotlin
  • Experience with collaborative source control, preferably Git
  • Experience developing feature-rich Android apps
  • Highly collaborative problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to rapidly iterate from prototype to shipping product
  • Solid understanding of memory management
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and analysis tools
  • Comfortable with Test-Driven Development, Continuous Build and Integration methodologies
  • You are upbeat, adaptable, and results oriented with a positive attitude
  • You have excellent judgment and integrity with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Proven ability to take ownership, solve problems proactively, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
  • Preferred: experience developing apps for IoT devices, especially Bluetooth devices
  • Preferred: experience working within a larger product team
  • Bonus: experience/interest with YAML, Gradle, structured concurrency, Jetpack Compose, and Kotlin Multiplatform

Monthly compensation of up to $7,000 CAD.
