Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Post Anesthetic Recovery department at the University Hospital of Northern BC. The Staff RN, PACU, practices in accordance with the Vision, Values, Ethics and Standards of the organization and of the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and within a patient and family centered care model. The Staff RN, PACU, provides nursing care in an acute clinical setting and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care. Working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Staff Nurse ensures the delivery of client-centered care by assisting individual clients and their families respond to changing health care needs. This Staff RN, PACU, possesses a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.

• There are 12 training positions available for 2025/2026.
• Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as required
• learners should expect to make a 4-6 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learning
• Additional study time, outside of scheduled hours, will be required to successfully complete the program
• Flexibility for practicums is necessary
• Applicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the department
• Upon successful completion of the education program, Northern Health requires an eighteen (18) month return of service in a regular position in the area of nursing applicable to the education program.

Qualfications

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
• Advanced education in an approved enhanced specialty post anesthetic education course, and two (2) years recent, related clinical experience aligned with unit specific competencies or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
