Job description
Overview

Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join the Operating Room department at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital. This training opportunity is designed to extend nursing knowledge through Northern Health Regional Operating Room Education (RORE) and Regional Education for Perianesthesia Nursing (REPAN).

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care and nursing practice activities within the framework of quality management and in accordance with the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital mission statement.
  • Support perioperative nursing care in both scrub and circulating roles in a beginner/novice capacity, participating in the Post Anesthetic Recovery (PAR) environment as part of a fast-paced, technologically advanced team.
  • Participate in the standardized perioperative education program (AORN Periop 101 online curriculum with skills lab and clinical preceptorship) and complete the education requirements prior to working in the department.
  • Engage in ongoing learning during the 4–6 month education commitment, including required additional study time outside scheduled hours and flexible practicum arrangements.
  • Adhere to program requirements and return of service obligations after education completion (18 months in a regular nursing position in the applicable area).
Training Details
  • There are 2 training positions available for 2025/2026.
  • Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements as required.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days, 08:00 to 16:00.

Qualifications
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Completion of a post-graduate perioperative nursing course, or two (2) years recent OR/PARR nursing experience in an equivalent setting with a minimum of two (2) years of OR/PARR nursing experience.
