Overview

Position Summary – Currently accepting applications for the January 2026 program intake.

We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Emergency department at St. John Hospital. The Staff Nurse provides professional nursing services in a manner consistent with Northern Health standards, the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), the National Emergency Nursing Association (NENA) Standards, and the CNA Code of Ethics for Nursing. Reporting to the Emergency Manager and as a member of a health care team, the Staff Nurse applies Emergency Nursing knowledge to care for a range of issues from non-urgent to life-threatening for patients presenting to the Emergency Department.

Northern Health Regional Emergency Training Program Details: The Northern Health Regional Emergency Department Education Program (REDEP) uses a standardized, evidence-informed online curriculum offered by Elsevier called Emergency Nursing Orientation (ENO). REDEP combines ENO online learning with a skills/simulation lab and clinical practicum to prepare registered nurses to provide safe and competent emergency nursing care at a novice level. There are 2 training positions available for 2025/2026.

Key points include placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, prerequisites possibly required, a 4-6 month education commitment (online and in-person), additional study time outside scheduled hours, and mandatory certifications and prerequisites listed below.
