Position Summary
Are you passionate about nursing and eager to expand your knowledge? We offer a training opportunity for motivated Registered Nurses dedicated to compassionate patient care in our Emergency department at the University Hospital of Northern BC.
The Staff Nurse, guided by Northern Health's vision and values, is responsible for delivering professional nursing services in accordance with standards from Northern Health, the College of BC Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), the National Emergency Nursing Association (NENA), and the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Code of Ethics.
Reporting to the Emergency Manager and as part of a healthcare team, the Staff Nurse applies emergency nursing skills to care for patients with varying health issues, from non-urgent to life-threatening cases.
Northern Health's Regional Emergency Training Program (REDEP) combines an online curriculum provided by Elsevier called Emergency Nursing Orientation (ENO), along with skills labs and clinical practicum, to prepare nurses for emergency care at a novice level.
UHNBC is the largest acute care facility in Northern BC, serving as a regional hub for specialized health services and a teaching hospital for various health sciences programs.
Recent expansions include an emergency room, ICU, maternal-child care center, MRI unit, and more. A major expansion, the new Acute Care Tower, is scheduled to open in winter 2031, enhancing the hospital's capacity and services.
