Overview

Position Summary

Currently accepting applications for the January 2026 program intake. We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Med Surg department at Wrinch Memorial Hospital. The RN practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) within a patient- and family-centered care model. Rural general practice includes working in a variety of clinical settings, with assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Rural community hospitals provide a wide range of services and may require the RN to be competent in multiple clinical settings. This job description addresses various scenarios where nurses are required to work in one or more areas requiring advanced training and experience. Actual start date and hours of work vary as education is ongoing throughout 2025/2026. Contact specialtyeducation@northernhealth.ca for information.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days, 08:00 to 16:00

Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver client-centered care.
  • Respond to changing health care needs and apply nursing science in practice.
  • Demonstrate a specialized body of knowledge and base practice on related sciences and humanities.
  • Adapt to working in multiple clinical settings as required by the location.
Clinical Setting

Wrinch Memorial Hospital provides teaching opportunities for Medical Students, Nurse Practitioner Students and Medical Residents, serving a population of 8,000 with a range of services including:

  • Nine Complex Care beds; One Respite bed; 13 Acute Care beds
  • Dental Clinic; Laboratory; Wrinch Medical Clinic
  • One secure psychiatric observation room; Medical Imaging, including ultrasound
  • Retail Pharmacy On-site; Public Health; Mental Health and Substance Use
  • Skeena Place Assisted Living; Home and Community Care support services
  • Visiting specialists include General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Gynecology, Rheumatology, Pediatrics, Urology, MyoActivation Pain Clinic, Neurology (coming soon)
  • Pre- and Post-Natal outreach; Chronic Disease Management

Qualifications

  • Emergency/ED specialty preparation or equivalent; CPR within three years.
  • Perinatal: Advanced preparation in Perinatal specialty; current Fetal Health Surveillance (FHS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 2 years; CPR within three years.
