Why Join the Turbine Static Structures Team?

The mechanical engineering professional will be responsible for analyzing, researching and developing specific engineered structures that include metals, non‑metals or composite structural materials for product design. Responsibilities also include analyzing tolerances, durability, design eligibility and structural development. Specialization may encompass dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue, as well as thermal analysis.

Working Conditions

This is a full‑time position from Monday to Friday with flexible hours, based in Longueuil, and performed exclusively on site.

What your day to day will look like
  • Plan and carry out structural and stress analysis, thermal analysis and lifetime analysis of component and system designs.
  • Use available 3D finite element stress analysis tools to optimize the quality of the component or system design to ensure its structural integrity.
  • Prepare a rotor blade containment analysis.
  • Determine test objectives for rig/test cell hardware and instrumentation.
  • Participate in generic research programs to improve component life and durability and to develop new technology.
  • Work with integrated product teams (IPT) in all stages, from design to production.
  • Be responsible for several components of a project or a complex component of a larger project.
  • Contribute to the team or department by applying knowledge of one or more functional areas.
The tools you need to be successful
  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 to 5 years of experience or a master’s degree with 1 to 3 years of experience.
  • Ability to use digital computer software, particularly CATIA, Dyna, and structural design systems tools (ANSYS).
  • Relevant experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering and commercial finite element codes (Ansys, etc.).
  • Fully developed professional able to work without direct guidance or direction from others.
  • In‑depth knowledge of the discipline and role.
  • Desirable qualities include being capable of working alone and in teams, sharing knowledge, having good written and oral communication skills, and excellent organizational skills.
  • A member of the OIQ/PEO (Ontario) or eligible for membership is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of the English language, written and oral, is required for this position.
  • Field studies: Engineering.

This position is part of a French‑speaking work environment; it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and understand daily documentation and technical terms, and to write and communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.
